Missed out on Coachella? Live sets from the mega music fest are now online

Coachella 2008 Downloads and Streams
tinyurl.com/6g2cgs - If you weren't one of lucky ones to land tickets to Coachella, arguably one of the premier outdoor music events in North America and the unofficial start of the festival season, the Large Hearted Boy blog has gathered a ton of live performances from the sold-out festival. With streams or direct downloads from acts such as Fatboy Slim, Metric, Portishead, The Verve, Holy Fuck, MGMT, Breeders, Prince, Roger Waters and Aphex Twin, this should keep you busy listening for a few weeks.

Carl Craig's Invisible Jukebox
tinyurl.com/6aqlb6 - Few names are so intricately tied into the spread of the second wave of Detroit techno as Carl Craig. From early on in his career, Craig set out to separate himself from the Motor City's big three (Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins) and in doing so, developed a unique, melodic, jazz-influenced sound. With hundreds of production credits under his belt, a Grammy nomination, and a successful DJ career in Europe, Craig has been able to grow as an artist while still remaining true to his roots. In this recent interview from The Wire, writer Philip Sherburn sits down with a box of records and quizzes the DJ about what he's hearing. It's an illuminating piece on both Craig's knowledge of music, but also what has fueled him over his nearly 20-year career.

Quick Hits

Video of the Week: Grand Analog - Around This Town
tinyurl.com/567zvd - Even during the early days of his well-known hip hop group, mood ruff, former Winnipegger Odario Williams knew about the power of video. Along with regular appearances on MuchMusic's Rap City, mood ruff was one of the first local groups to really embrace the medium as a way to promote its music. Fast-forward to 2008, and Williams is still turning out critically acclaimed dub-influenced rap 'n' roll as Grand Analog. This slick clip for Around This Town may not have been filmed in Winnipeg, but don't hold that against him.

MP3 of the Week: Dandy Warhols - The World The People Together (Come On)
tinyurl.com/5p7tsz - If you saw Dig!, the documentary that followed Portland, Ore.'s The Dandy Warhols and The Brian Jonestown Massacre on their quest to land major label deals, you already know that the Dandys didn't get much support from its label after its single, Not if You Were the Last Junkie on Earth, never really broke into the mainstream. Although the band has enjoyed success in Europe thanks to one of its songs appearing in a mobile-phone ad, it never really lived up to the hype in North America. After releasing its last album in 2005 on Capital, the band has decided to self-release its sixth album, Earth to The Dandy Warhols, on its own label, Beat the World Records. The first single is now available for download.
