I want to conquer the world
Website lets you share your goals with others

43 Things — www.43things.com
— This fascinating interactive web project allows you to
catalogue your goals (well, 43 of them) and see if other users
share the same desires. With entries as diverse as the people
adding them, it’s hard not to get sucked into the site for
a few hours and get some ideas for your own life.
This Is Not A Magazine— thisisnotamagazine.com
— Comprised of a downloadable PowerPoint presentation that
turns your computer into an interactive art installation, the
latest issue of This Is Not A Magazine continues to blur the lines
between digital media and participatory art.
Tube Spot — www.simpsoncrazy.com/downloads/music.shtml
— In his book Planet Simpson, Canadian writer Chris Smith
talks a lot about the various stages The Simpsons has gone through
since the program first hit the small screen. A big part of the
Simpsonian Golden Age (1992-1997) was the high quality of music
used in the episodes. This collection of over 100 MP3s from the
popular cartoon covers music from each season (except the latest),
along with a short description of which characters are involved
and which episode the track was used in. Considering the number
of cease and desist letters Fox sent to Simpsons fan sites a few
years back, it’s amazing this resource exists.
Music From The Simpsons —
tinyurl.com/93e24
— Stanley Kubrick’s 1971 cult classic A Clockwork
Orange is still one of the most important films of the last 40
years. This collection of phrases and sayings should help you
decipher the sometimes complex language used throughout the film.
Gmail Drive — www.viksoe.dk/code/gmail.htm
— This innovative beta application allows you to turn your
Gmail account into a virtual hardrive that you can access and
store files on at any time. While there are no guarantees that
Google won’t change the configuration of its system to disable
this feature, it’s currently up and running.
I Ain’t Lazy — pegcity.com/images/bastidpipismitty.mov
— I Ain’t Lazy is the slamming leadoff single from
Taking Care of Business, a new album that teams up Halifax-based
turntablist Skratch Bastid and local Peanuts and Corn troublemakers
John Smith and Pip Skid. Check the video for the single as you’ll
have a hard time finding it on MuchMusic anytime soon. The nation’s
music station would rather play the new 50 Cent video a hundred
times than support homegrown hip hop.
Underground House — www.undergroundhouse.net
— This site contains a massive collection of DJ sets from
well-known house heads such as JT Donaldson (who will be playing
the recently resurrected Lustre on May 14) and Luke McKeehan to
up-and-comers such as the Lawnchair Generals and Patrick Turner.
The only drawback is the sets are only available as Real Audio
files, making them a pain in the ass to stream for anyone who
doesn’t have the software.
