‘The PM’s trite and jaded...’
Here’s your chance to personalize Twisted Sister’s best tune
Anthony Augustine

We’re Not Gonna Take It!werenotgonnatakeit.org — We’re Not Gonna Take It! is an interactive public-art project that allows users to upload karaoke-style protest songs recorded overtop of Twisted Sister’s classic anthem of rebellion. From songs about the size of bike lanes to Canada’s free-trade agreement with Israel, this DIY digital web installation is a refreshing example of progressive political activism. It will cost you a long-distance call, but more and more people are on calling plans or using digital phones, so there isn’t any excuse why you shouldn’t record your own tirade against Sam Katz or Stephen Harper’s policy in Afghanistan.

Guitar Hero Broke My Kneewww.guitarherobrokemyknee.com — Over the past 15 years, video games have become much more physically interactive. From the heavy-duty workout of Dance Dance Revolution to less physically intense games such as Guitar Hero, there has been a noticeable shift in the type of entertainment available. Nintendo’s Running Pad likely caused some injuries, but this is the first documented case of someone blowing out a knee while shredding a plastic axe in a Guitar Hero battle. Omaha gamer Jimmy Winter has documented his injury and recovery on his blog. He’s even contacted the company that developed the game to try and get an endorsement deal where he would be “like Subway’s Jared.”

Chug and Blowtinyurl.com/kb28a — Sure, YouTube may be a breeding ground for cutting-edge video, but it’s also home to quick clips of idiots chugging massive amounts of Diet Coke and washing it down with a handful of Mentos. Apparently this video was rejected from a recent Mentos geyser video competition. You can see why.

Inner City Youthmagnuminmotion.com/essay_grime — On the surface, Simon Wheatley’s photo essay on London’s inner-city youth seems like it could have been shot in any major city, but it’s his audio insight into the lives that he documents and their connection to the growing grime music scene that really sets this digital exhibit apart.

The 86 Rules of Boozingtinyurl.com/42g8 — While Vice Magazine’s D.O.W.N.E.R. method of partying is pretty straightforward and gives you some basic guidelines for life, the lushes at Modern Drunk Magazine have somehow managed to cobble together a much more comprehensive set of rules that includes everything from how often you should change your toast (monthly) to what booze you should drink if you want to avoid getting caught at work (vodka).

10 Best Will Ferrell Skitstinyurl.com/ksdu2 — Before he made the jump to the big screen to tackle roles such as Ricky Bobby, Will Ferrell was one of the anchor members of SNL. Although Ferrell suffered through some of the live program’s worst years, he always managed to pull off one or two skits a show that would somehow redeem the other 80 minutes. The crew over at Cracked Magazine has gathered up its favourite clips from Ferrell’s stint on the long-running NBC program and uploaded them to this site.
