Cinematheque names program director; Dave Barber to stay on

The Winnipeg Film Group today named Jaimz Asmundson programming director of its Cinematheque.

In a press release, the Film Group described Asmundson’s appointment as a new, 18-month pilot position for the organization as it tries to connect independent cinema to audiences in the new digital age.

The release stated that Asmundson’s primary objective will be to expand and develop new programming streams for the Cinematheque, and to develop new marketing strategies to help support its artistic and business development.

The veteran independent filmmaker and editor, who recently coordinated the WNDX Film Festival, will supervise Cinematheque programming coordinator Dave Barber and operations manager Kristy Muckosky, alongside the staff team that reports directly to Muckosky, including Head Projectionist Alison Davis and Box Office staff Amanda Smart and Darren Young.
