L.A. explodes at MTS Centre as polarizing pop-monster LMFAO pounds Winnipeg

"All we do is rock the beat!" echoed the sample, dropping into a dubstep wobble. Glow-sticks strobed in the arena air and the fans blew up bouncing as L.A. party rockers Redfoo & SkyBlu (aka LMFAO) made their first appearance in Winnipeg since 2009.

"I gotta know just one thing" SkyBlu asked the capacity crowd, "who came here to party?"

Good question.

The elusive ‘Transcona Cougar’ was spotted shoulder-to-shoulder with texting teenage girls repping Redfoo inspired (non-prescription) glasses. Buff bros in over-screened shirts took iPhone video while bar chicks pumped fists and tossed back draft beer. Everyone had two things in common: an affection for spandex and love for LMFAO.

The stage stood like an MTV alien ship in the south corner of the arena and the crowd ate it up
like Alf on a kitten. Bass was the boss as the duo got loco with its Jersey Shore anthem Get
Crazy, then gave a lesson in female empowerment with Put That A$$ to Work. From there it was
back to their ‘*lol*omg*as if!*’ roots with the booze-drenched breakthrough single, I’m in Miami
Trick

Backed by giant LCD screens, a back-flipping break dance team, a DJ and a live drummer/guitar duo — the LMFAO show went beyond music and into the orbit of pure entertainment.
Choreographed dance moves blended with (surprisingly) live vocal parts and tight, big-money stage production to yield an interesting window into the mainstream music mentality.

Just ask the inflatable zebra.

A "Go Jets go!" chant, a song about shots and I Am Not a Whore later, it was apparent these Grammy nominees could do no wrong with this crowd. The night ended with the 2011 signature tune, Party Rock Anthem, and a junk-flailing rendition of I’m Sexy and I Know It.

Haters gonna hate, LMFAO is gonna bank.
