As if Sally Seltmann, Sarah Blasko and Holly Throsby weren’t huge enough in their native Australia, now they’ve gone and made an indie-pop supergroup, amalgamating all of that sublime creativity into one big imaginative lump. The lovely sweeping melodies and layered harmonizing on the Seltmann-penned Even Though I’m a Woman are so blissed-out and catchy it’s enough to soundtrack commercials. (Though Seltmann’s been there, done that: she co-wrote Feist’s iPod-famed 1234.) Traversing fragments of each artist’s distinct style, the unforgettable songwriting of Throsby and vocal force of Blasko is wonderfully woven through electro-pop stunner Rely on Me, and the fragile coo of Seltmann glows on If the Night Is Dark. Even pulling from outside the creative pool, the moody backbeat of On My Own feels like a nodding wink to Radiohead. On the sonic spectrum, this is near pop perfection.
